Man held over slaughtering grandfather

Joypurhat Correspondent: A man named Bayzid Hasan has slaughtered his grandfather named Belal Uddin to death at Karim Nagar village in Sadar upazila of the district on Wednesday.

The grandson has been held in this connection.

The incident took place around 11:00 am.

Locals said Bayzid had been studying at a local madrassa staying at the house of his grandfather for around 8/10 years. He hacked his grandfather with a boti (a curved cutting instrument used in kitchen) to death while his grandfather was working this morning.

Inspector Raihan Hossain of Joypurhat police station confirmed the matter to risingbd.

On information, police rushed to the spot and detained Bayzid in this connection, the police official said.

The reason behind the killing could not be known immediately, he added.
