Mother, daughter killed in Gazipur road crash

A woman and her daughter were killed as a bus carrying them overturned on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur on Sunday morning.

The deceased were identified as Fatema Begum (35), wife of Idris Ali of Kaliakoir upazila, and their nine-month-old daughter Arobi, residents of Boardghor area in the upazila.

Md Anwar Hossain, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Salna-Konabari Highway Police Station, said the Dhaka-bound bus of Azmeri Paribahan from Chandra area overturned on the highway at Nurbagh around 6:15am after its driver lost control.

The accident left Fatema and her daughter dead on the spot, said the SI.

Police seized the bus but its driver managed to flee the scene.
