Mother, son die after falling into septic tank

A woman and her son have died while they were trying to recover a cell phone handset from a septic tank.

The tragic incident took place around 8.30pm on Thursday at Koyamajompur village under Durgapur upazilain Rajshahi.

The deceased were identified as Feroja Begum, 38 and her son Russel, 16, a SSC result seeker.

According to local sources, Russel fell into the septic tank when he was trying to recover the handset from there.

Later, his mother also fell into the septic tank when she was trying to rescue her son, leaving them dead on the spot due to suffocation.

KhurshidaBanu, officer-in-charge (OC) of Durgapur Police Station, confirmed the matter.
