Murder case accused killed in Chattogram 'gunfight'

The prime accused in Jubo League leader Mosaddekur Rahman murder case was killed in a 'gunfight' with police in Satkani upazila of Chattogram early Saturday (June 27).

The deceased was identified as Sohel, son of Mohammad Ali of ward no 7 of Satkani municipality area.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Satkania Police Station Safiul Kabir said on information, a team of police conducted a drive to arrest Sohel in Dighir Par area around 2:30am. When the police team approached the area, a gang of drug traders opened fire on police from their hideout, forcing them to fire back that triggered the gunfight.

The gunfight left Sohel dead on the spot, the OC said.

Police recovered arms and drugs from the spot, the police official added.

Earlier on June 22, Mosaddek was stabbed to death during an altercation with Sohel as he protested Sohel’s criminal activities, police said.
