New generation responsible for keep bio-diversity: Inam Al Haque

Inam Al Haque

Inam Al Haque, the eminent ornithologist, locally known as bird specialist of the country, had worked in the Bangladesh Air Force. But from his boyhood he had much interest on bird, nature and mountaineering.

 

The interest turned into love and then passion. He visited most part of the country as well as different countries of the world to watch birds. He even visited glacial part of the world on the same mission.  

 

He also hiked different high mountains side by side he watched varieties of birds around the world.

 

Haque has been playing role as an organizer to make new generation in keeping the bio-diversification balance. His message to the new generation was to take responsibility to keep the bio-diversity.

 

He is very much optimistic that the movement will be succeeding by the joint hand of young generation. He intensively talked with risingbd on different issues of nature and his movement. He was interviewed by our JagannathUniversity correspondent Ashraful Islam.

 

Risingbd: What are the major threats for migratory birds in Bangladesh?

 

Inam Al Haque:  The biggest threat on migratory birds is aggression of human being.  Birds are urgently needed for human being. Birds are being vanishing due to people’s hobby of raring birds.  Birds are withering fast as people are felling trees that resulting loss of their abode.

 

Risingbd: How would you explain the next crisis of country’s nature and bio-diversity?

 

Inam Al Haque:  Basically people are thinking that housing is needed first than that of keeping wetlands and forests. We are becoming detached of nature.

  It is badly needed to emphasis our text book to include the bio-diversity chapter. Till then the crisis will be spiraled. 

 


Risingbd: Is it needed to establish any academy to keep nature and bi-diversity?

 

Inam Al Haque: As BanglaAcademy was installed for language and literature, so environment academy is needed for keep nature. Importance of nature is more than language.

 

The forest department is needed to expand its operation.

 

Risingbd: How the government part can play role in this regard?

 

Inam Al Haque: Government role is minimal here. Social leaders’ role is significant here. Opinion leader and educated society can play pivotal role to make safer the nature.  Educated society however failed to play the role positively.

 

Risingbd: How your organization Bangladesh Bird Club playing the role?

Inam Al Haque:  The Bangladesh Bird Club was established in 1996. The organization is busy with organizing seminar, gossip, identifying birds etc.

We are busy with an important movement on environment issues. A number of activists are involved with the organization. We are trying to create awareness to people. We are trying to give it a movement shape, it’s our success.

 

Risingbd: Are you optimistic on the new generation who will be able to save the bio-diversity?

Inam Al Haque:  Though we and our previous generation have failed to keep the nature natural, I hope the next generation will be able to keep their words and they would not be failed.

 

Risingbd: How would you evaluate the role of media?

Inam Al Haque:  Mass media is more sincere than that of government on this issue.
