Now Sarail circle ASP withdrawn

Bangladesh Police has now withdrawn the senior assistant superintendent of police  (ASP) of Sarail circle in Brahmanbaria over local police force’s failure to prevent a massive gathering of people from attending the funeral prayer of an Islamist party’s leader in the upazila on Saturday flouting the government’s instruction to maintain social distancing.

A three-member investigation committee has been formed in this connection.

An order was issued from police headquarters in this regard on Sunday (April 19) morning.

Before Sarail circle senior ASP Md Masud Rana, Sarail police station officer-in-charge Md Shahadat Hossain was also withdrawn from his post late on Saturday over the same reason.

Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general (media) attached to the Police Headquarters, confirmed risingbd of the development on Sunday.

Earlier on Saturday, thousands of people attended the namaz-e-janaza of a religious scholar at Bertala village in Sarail upazila ignoring the risk of coronavirus transmission.
