One arrested over raping 5-yr girl

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a man from Uttar Salna area of Gazipur City Corporation in a case filed for his alleged involvement in raping a five-year girl.

The arrestee is Nurul Islam, 59, son of late Abdul Mannan of the city corporation area.

The accused brought the minor girl to his grocery store alluring the girl to give chocolates around 9:30am on Friday and raped her later. Victim’s father filed a case with Gazipur Metropolitan Sadar Police Station in this connection, according to a press release signed by Lieutenant Abdullah Al-Mamun, the Company Commander of Porabari Camp, RAB-1.

Acting on a tip-off, the elite force conducted a drive in the area and arrested Nurul Islam around 3:30pm on Saturday, he said.

The accused confessed to the rape of the minor girl in the primary interrogation, he added.
