One killed in Naogaon ‘gunfight’

A suspected dacoit has been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Porsha upazila in Naogaon district.

The gunfight took place early Tuesday in Fakirer More of the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Delwar Hossain.  

Officer-in-Charge of Porsha Thana Shahinur Rahman said there were six cases including firearms and robbery against him.

He said Delwar Hossain was arrested earlier and as per his confessional statement along with him a team of police conducted a drive there to recover arms and drugs. When policemen reached there, cohorts of Delwar Hossain opened fire forcing them to back fire in self-defense that triggered a gunfight.    

Delwar Hossain was injured in the gunfight and he was immediately taken to Porsha Upazila Complex where duty doctors declared him dead.
