One shot dead by BSF in Patgram

A Bangladeshi national has been shot to death by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat.

The deceased was identified as Mizanur Rahman, 25, son of Bhutto Mia at Munglubari village under Burimari union of the upazila.

Sumonto Kumar Mohonto, officer-in-charge (OC) of Patgram Police station, confirmed the news.

He said a group of cattle traders went to India to bring cattle early Thursday. The BSF-140 men from India’s Raninagar camp opened fire on them while they were returning to Bangladesh with cattle near 862 no main pillar on Bherbherirhat border, leaving Mizanur Rahman injured.

Later, his companions took him to Patgram Upazila Health Complex, where duty doctors declared him dead, the OC also said.

Police recovered the body from the hospital.
