Pirate Joynal killed in Cox’s Bazar 'gunfight'

A suspected pirate has been killed in a 'gunfight' with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Cox's Bazar's Moheshkhali upazila.

The deceased was known as Joynal Abedin, son of Mashidul Islam, hailed from Nonasori area of Kalarmarsara union of the upazila.

RAB-15 deputy commander Major Md Rabiul Islam said, the gunfight took place in Nonasori area around 5:30pm on Thursday.

The pirate was wanted in 15 cases, the RAB official said.

Moheshkhali police station Officer-in-Charge Provash Chandra Dhar said the body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
