Probe body formed over Gazipur hotel blast

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: A five-member committee has been formed on Sunday to investigate the explosion at a hotel in the city’s Board Bazar area that left 18 people injured.

Gazipur’s Additional District Magistrate Mahinur Islam will lead the five-member investigation committee.

The committee has been asked to file a report within the next seven working days.

Confirming the matter, Deputy Commissioner (DC) SM Tarikul Islam said the people responsible for the explosion will face legal action based on the investigation report.

At least 18 people suffered burn injuries in an explosion at a hotel in Gazipur early Sunday.

The explosion took place on the ground floor of Tripty Hotel in Board Bazar area around 2:00am when the staffs were getting ready to close it. Due to the explosion, several establishments including Radhuni Hotel and Restaurant, adjacent to the Tripty hotel, were badly damaged.

On information, four firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the blaze caused by the explosion.

All the injured are undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
