RMG workers stage demo for wage in Gazipur

Readymade garment workers staged demonstration for due wages at different places in Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) on Wednesday.

Workers of several factories took to the streets on Wednesday morning.

Shahidullah, Inspector of Gazipur Industrial Police, said workers of Intermax and Style Craft took to Dhaka-Gazipur highway in front of their factories demanding due wages around 10:30am.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and talked to the factory owners. Intermax authority assured to pay wages on April 20. With the assurance, workers of the factory withdrew the protest and returned home.

Meanwhile, workers of Style Craft continued the demonstration as authority assured to pay their wages on April 27.

Besides, workers of Shyamoliy garment waged protest at Salna on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway for the same reason. Police brought the situation control after discussing the matter with the factory authority.

Shyamoli authority assured workers to pay wages on April 18, said industry police inspector Asaduzzaman.

Meanwhile, workers of B&R Fashion staged protest at Bhogra bypass road of the city corporation for wages.

Besides, workers of Asoka factory took to the streets at Hurricane of Signboard area.

Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bason Poice Station, said workers were removed from the street through discussion. Owners were asked to discuss the matter. Workers would be paid after discussion with owners.
