Risingbd stands beside ‘Golapir Ma’

Milon Begum lives in Juri upazila of Moulvibazar. She is widely known as Golapir Ma (mother of Golapi) in the area.

She lives on working as housemaid at different houses. There is no specific house where she works. She usually goes to 10 to 15 houses every day for works.

Golapir Ma gets Tk 10 to Tk 20 from every house for her works. But she is now totally unemployed because of the shutdown enforced due to coronavirus pandemic. So, she falls in trouble for her livelihood.

Country’s popular online news portal ‘risingbd’ has recently published a story of the miserable life on Golapir Ma.

The story shook heart of the portal’s Advisory Editor Uday Hakim. He immediately issued instructions to provide food assistance to Golapir Ma.

As per the instructions, risingbd’s Moulvibazar Correspondent Saifullah Hassan reached house of Golapir Ma and handed over food stuffs for 10 days to her.

Milon Begum said, “I have lost all my works because of coronavirus. I get food help from risingbd when there is no food at my home. Now I’m very much happy as I can pass 10 to 15 days with the food without any tension.”
