Risingbd.com, country's leading online news portal, has stood beside Kangalini Sufia, a well-known vocalist of a song named 'Poraner Bandhob Re, Buri Hoilam Tor Karone'.

On behalf of risingbd, Kushtia correspondent Kanchan Kumar along with cash amount including food materials of 15 days appeared at around 12:30 pm on Tuesday (April 21) at the house of Kangalini Sufia located at Ershad Nagar in the district's Jail intersection.

Sufia is physically ill. She cannot attend song show like before. So, her income has reduced. In the mean time, she has become completely workless due to pandemic coronavirus. She cannot run her family. The noted folk singer is leading a very miserable life with her daughter Pushpo.

Earlier, a report on Kangalini Sufia was published in the popular news portal which came to the notice of Uday Hakim, the advisory editor of risingbd.

He immediately took the initiative to provide food assistance to the family of Kangalini Sufia. Under his direction, food materials of 15 days and hand cash were delivered on Tuesday. Rice, pulses, potatoes, flour and oil were among the food items.

Kushtia Press Club general secretary Anisuzzaman Dublu was present during the handover of food materials and cash.

Anisuzzaman Dablu said, "Risingbd has taken a great initiative by standing beside helpless people. Providing food items and cash will bring smiles to the faces of jobless and helpless people amid the crisis triggered by coronavirus."

Expressing gratitude to risingbd, Kangalini Sufia said, "I am very happy to receive the food materials and hand cash sent by risingbd. I can't buy medicine. It was good to receive cash. Now, I will be able to buy medicine with this."

Pushpo, the daughter of Kangalini Sufia, said, "My mother has fallen ill. We are in a big trouble. Risingbd sent food materials and hand cash for us. We are very happy with the food items. Everything has changed due to coronavirus. People are not seen to look after people. Can't stand beside others. I couldn't even imagine that an online news portal would stand beside us. Let them help more people in this way. Good wishes to risingbd."

Risingbd Advisory Editor Uday Hakim said, “It is our moral duty to stand beside helpless people at this time. We always like to stand beside helpless people and will be in the future."
