Risingbd stands beside Nurjahan's family

Country's leading and popular online news portal risingbd.com stood beside an impoverished Nurjahan of Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur district by extending its helping hand to her.

On behalf of risingbd.com, Rakib, a mathematics student at Dinajpur Government College and also a contributor for the campus page of the online news portal, on Friday (May 1) handed over daily essentials and food materials to Nurjahan, a mother of two daughters.

Food items include rice, pulses, oil, potatoes, sugar, onions, ginger, garlic, gram, salt, green chillies, eggs, flour, semolina, muri and a hand washing soap.

Nurjahan lives in Bangmari area of Baluchar (ward no 6) of Belaichandi union (no 1) under Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur district.

A countrywide lockdown is going on at the moment as the coronavirus or COVID-19 cases continue to surge day by day. In this circumstances, the number of hungry people continues to rise and so does the number of helpless people.

Just one year back, Nurjahan's husband Abdur Rashid's right arm and right leg became paralyzed due to high blood pressure. As a result, he became unable to move normally as before. The language of his mouth also became unclear.

At present, the mother of two daughters runs the family by working in the houses of others with great difficulty. But no one now wants to take housemaids for fear of being infected with coronavirus.

After hearing the pathetic story of Nurjahan's family, risingbd's advisory editor Uday Hakim on behalf of the portal made an arrangement to provide daily essentials and food materials for 20 days for her family.
