Staff Correspondent: The Chief Justice (CJ) Surendra Kumar Sinha said the Supreme Court (SC) will not fall into trap of criticism over its verdict that declared the 16th constitutional amendment illegal.
He said, "Constructive criticism can be made over the verdict. But we will neither fall into trap of the government nor the opposition party over the issue."
The chief justice said this when Supreme Court Bar Association President Advocate Zainul Abedin and its Secretary AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon and some other lawyers placed some newspaper reports before the chief justice, saying that Justice Khairul’s comments are highly contemptuous.
Law Commission Chairman, also former chief justice ABM Khairul Haque on Wednesday strongly criticised the verdict, terming it misconceived, irrelevant and immature.
