‘Snatcher’ killed in ‘gunfight’

A suspected snatcher has been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in Kata Pahar area of Cox’s Bazar early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Nurunnabi, son of late Abdul Karim at Teknaifapara of Cox’s Bazar.

Nurunnabi was a listed snatcher and accused in several cases, police said.

Cox’s Bazar Sadar Thana OC Shahjahan Kabir said Nurunnabi was arrested with firearms and as per his confessional statement police along with him went there to recover arms. When they reached there, cohorts of Nurunnabi opened fire on policemen forcing them to back fire that triggered a gunfight, leaving Nurunnabi with bullet injury.

He was immediately taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.
