Suspected dacoit lynched at Araihazar

A suspected dacoit was lynched in Narayanganj’s Araihazar early Thursday.

The incident took place around 1.30am at Laskardi village under Brahandi union of the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Juwel, 38, son of Alauddin of the village.

Sub-inspector of Araihazar Thana Ashadur Rahman confirmed the matter.

Ashadur Rahman said a gang of robbers numbering 12-13 were trying to commit robbery to the house of Kadir. Hearing the shouting of his family members, the villagers chased the dacoits and caught one of them. Later, locals gave him a good beating, leaving him dead on the spot.

Police recovered the dead body around 5.00am.

Araihazar Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazrul said Juwel was a dacoit and accused in many cases.
