Teacher beaten to death in Pabna

A teacher has allegedly been beaten to death by his rivals over a land dispute.

The incident took place around 7.00am on Saturday at Atgharia upazila in Pabna.

The deceased is Ashraf Ali, 45, head master of Phulbaria Govt Primary School and general secretary of Upazila Primary Teachers Association.

Ashraf was the son of Abdul Pramanik at Moheshpur village under Akdanto union of the upazila.

According to sources, the families of Ashraf Ali and Afzal Hossain had a land dispute. They locked into an altercation in the morning, and one stage Afzal hit Ashraf with a stick indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.

Atgharia OC Rakibul Islam said police has recovered the body and are sending it to the local hospital for post-mortem.
