‘Terrorist’ killed in ‘gunfight’

A suspected terrorist has been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Kalabagan in Pabna sadar upazila.

The deceased was identified as Habban Ali, 50, son of late Haider Ali at South Ramchandrapur Mondolpara of the sadar upazila.

He was wanted in 12 criminal cases, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive there, Sensing the presence of law enforcers, criminals opened fire when the police team reached the spot. In self-defence, police also fired back that triggered a ‘gunfight’. Habban sustained bullet injury and was arrested from the spot. Doctors pronounced him dead, when he was taken to Pabna General Hospital.

Police also recovered a revolver and five bullets from the spot.
