‘Top terrorist’ killed in Narayanganj ‘gunfight’

A top terrorist and also a drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Sayedpur area of Narayanganj early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Tuhin alias Chapati Tuhin, accused in multiple cases including murder. He was the son of Kowsar Hossain in Deobhog Shantinagar area.

ASP Moshiur Rahman of RAB 11 said Tuhin was arrested from Cumilla on Tuesday night. As per his confessional statement, along with him a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area to recover firearms and drugs.

Sensing the presence of RAB members, the cohorts of Tuhin opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight.

At one stage, Tuhin came in the line of fire and received a bullet. He was taken to Narayanganj General Hospital in a critical condition where doctors declared him dead, the RAB official said.
