Two Rohingyas killed in ‘gunfight’ with BGB

Two suspected Rohingya yaba traders were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) at Nalbunia area of Ukhia in Cox’s Bazar early Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Siddique, 36, and Mohammad Shajahan, 30, of Balukhali Rohingya camp.

BGB-34 Battalion Commander Lt. Col Ali Haider Azad Ahmed confirmed the matter.

He said on information, a team of BGB men conducted a drive in the area. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the drug traders opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight that left the duo bullet injury.

They were taken to a hospital where duty doctors declared them dead.

BGB men also recovered 40,000 Yaba tablets and weapons from the spot.
