Two suspected drug traders were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) along Ghumdhum border of Naikkhongchhari upazila in Bandarban on Saturday midnight.

The deceased were not identified immediately.

According to police, a BGB team during a regular patrolling found a group of people who were dealing with drugs. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the criminals fired at the BGB men, forcing them to fire back in self-defence that triggered a gunfight.

The injured two men were taken Ukhia Upazila Health Complex where duty doctors declared them dead.

BGB also recovered 40,000 pieces of yaba, one short gun and two bullets from the spot.
