Two hacked dead in Jhenidah, 10 injured

Two persons have been hacked to death and 10 others injured by rivals at Shailakupa upazila of the district, over establishing supremacy in the area.

The incident took place at Dhulia para village on Monday morning.

The deceased were known as Laltu Monday, son of Monjer Mondal, and Avi Mondal, son of Lokman Mondal, of the village.

The injured were admitted to Shailakupa Upzial Health Complex.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Hasanuzzaman said there had been a dispute between two groups—Kha Group and Mondal Group-- of Dhulia para village over establishing supremacy in the area. On Monday, people of Kha Group swooped on the rivals and hacked Laltu and Avi to death by sharp weapons. Ten others sustained injuries as they moved forward to save them.

Additional cops were deployed in the area to bring the situation under control, according to police.
