Two killed in Naogaon ‘gunfights’

Two people were killed in separate two ‘gunfights’ with police in Atrai and Patnitala upazilas of Naogaon district early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Zahidul Islam, 38, at Balugha village under Patnitala upazila, and Minhajul Islam alias Mintu alias Shikdar, 40, son of Abdur Rahman at Tentulia village of Atrai upazila.

Police claimed that Zahidul Islam was a listed drug peddler and Minhajul Islam was a member of banned outlaw party.

Parimal Kumar Chakrabarty, officer-in-charge of Patnitala Police Station, and Moselm Uddin, officer-in-charge of Atrai Police Station, confirmed the news.

A shutter gun, two bullets, 985 Yaba pills and four sharp weapons were recovered from the Patnitala spot.

Police recovered a foreign pistol, four bullets and four bombs from the Atrai spot.
