Two killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’

Cox's Bazar Correspondent: Two suspected drug peddlers including a Rohingya have been killed in a reported gunfight with Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) in district’s Teknaf upazila.
The gunfight took place early Monday in Moulvibazar area under Hrila union of the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Delwar Hossain Dilu, 30, son of late Jalil Ahmed at Noyabazar Satghoriapara under Hrila union, and Nurul Islam, 27, a Rohingya man at Kutupalong refugee camp in Ukhia.
Teknaf-2 BGB Commander Lt Colonel Mohammad Foysal Hasan Khan said a patrol team of BGB members went to the area on secret information that a consignment of yaba will arrive through sluice gate no. 2, at the night. Afterwards, a group of several persons met a Teknaf-based group of yaba dealers and intended to hand over yaba.
They opened fire at the BGB members as the law enforcers were heading towards them, forcing BGB men to back fire that triggered a gunfight.
At one stage, BGB members held two persons with bullet injury and they died on way to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
BGB members also recovered 20,000 piece pills, two native guns, two falchions and four rounds of bullets from the spot.
