Two to die for killing two minors

A tribunal in Dhaka here on Tuesday sentenced two youths to death for the rape and murder of two minor girls in the city’s Demra area on January 7 last year.

Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-3 Judge Joyshree Somaddar delivered the verdict.

The tribunal also fined them Tk 50,000 each.

The death row convicts are Golam Mostafa and Azizul Bawani.

On January 7, police recovered the bodies of Nursat Jahan, 4, daughter of Palash, and Faria Akther Dola, 5, daughter of Faridul from the ground floor of a seven-storey building on Shahjalal Road in Demra.

Police arrested the two youths a day after the incident. Father of one of the victims filed a case with Demra Police Station against the accused.

On January 23, police pressed charges against the two. The youths told the court that they lured the girls to a nearby flat with lipsticks.

According to case statement, the convicts strangled the two girls after raping them.
