UP chairman couple infected with corona in Barguna

A union parishad chairman and his wife have tested positive for coronavirus or COVID-19 in Amtoli upazila of Barguna district, bringing the total confirmed cases in the upazila to 11.

Upazila health and family planning official Shankar Adhikary confirmed the matter on Sunday (May 10) morning.

Samples were sent to Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka for tests and their report came back positive on Saturday night, he said.

Barguna Civil Surgeon Md Humayun Shahin Khan said the chairman couple has remained in isolation at their house and is being treated there.

Five houses adjacent to their house have been placed under lockdown, he said.
