US-China delegation in Cox’s Bazar to see Rohingya plight

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Two separate delegations from the US and China have arrived in Cox’s Bazar to see the overall situation of Rohingya people who fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar.

The US delegation arrived at the airport in Cox’s Bazar around 9:30am and went to Kutupalong Rohingya camp directly from the airport. US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Robert Miller is accompanying the delegation.

On the other hand, Chinese delegation arrived at the airport in Cox’s Bazar around 11:30am. Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming is leading the delegation.

Li Jiming is supposed to visit Rohingya camps along the Ghumdhum and Tombru border in Naikhyangchhari upazila of Bandarban.

He is also supposed to hold a meeting with officials of the administration and UNHCR in the afternoon.

The delegations are basically assigned to work on Rohingya refugees.
