VGF card corruption: UP Chairman held

Staff Correspondent: Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) detained an Union Parishad Chairman on charge of corruption during rice distribution under Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme.

The detainee is identified as Alauddin Mollah, Union Parisha Chairman of Atabah Union of Kaliakoir Upazila.

The law enforcers detained him from Savar on Tuesday night.

ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter to risingbd.com on Wednesday.

ACC sources said that there was an allegation that the UP Chairman and three others embezzled 90 metric tonnes of rice of Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme in 2016.

Later, a case was filed against him on December 28, 2016.
