Woman left in jungle over corona suspect

A woman was rescued from jungle of Isadighi village under Sakhipur upazila in Tangail after her husband and children left her there on suspicion of being infected with coronavirus.
Shakhipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Asmaul Husna Liza rescued her on Monday midnight.
According to locals, they informed UNO after they came to hear hue and cry of a woman from the jungle. Later, UNO along with other officials of administration rushed to the spot and rescued the woman.
UNO Asmaul Husna said the woman is a resident of Nalitabari of Sherpur. Her husband and children work at Salna in Gazipur. On Monday night, family members left her in the jungle over suspicion of being infected with coronavirus.
Being informed, we, police men and upazila health complex’s resident medical officer rushed to the spot and rescued her, she added.
She was sent to Dhaka for treatment on the night, she said.
Dr Shahinur Alam, resident medical officer of Shakhipur Upazila Health Complex, said the woman has been suffering from fever, sore throat and shortness of breath. She was sent to Dhaka by an ambulance on the night.
The woman was admitted to the isolation unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday morning, he added.
