Youth commits suicide after killing four

A youth has committed suicide after killing his wife, mother-in-law and two neighbours at Barolekha in Moulvibazar.

The incident took place early Sunday midnight at Pallatal Tea Garden of Uttar Shahbajpur union under the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Nirmal, 30, his wife Joli, 26, mother-in-law Laxmi, 45, Basanto, 37 and Sheuli 6. They were workers of Pallatal Tea Garden.

According to police and locals, Nirmal locked into an altercation with his wife and mother-in-law early Sunday, and one stage attacked his wife with a sharp weapon. The youth also hit his mother-in-law and two other neighbours, as they came to save Joli, leaving four dead on the spot.  Later, the youth committed suicide.

Barolekha Thana Officer-in-Charge Yeasinul Haq said police visited the spot and sent the bodies for autopsy.
