Youth died at ID hospital was not infected with coronavirus

A youth hailed from Naldanga of Natore, who died at Infectious Diseases Hospital in Rajshahi, was not infected with coronavirus.

The matter was confirmed after Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) collected sample from the dead body and tested in its laboratory.

The youth was identified as Monir Gazi, 19, son of Alam Gazi of Madhnagar village of Naldanga. He was HSC student of Madhnagar Degree College.

Monir was admitted to RMCH on Friday noon. Later, he was referred to corona ward of the hospital where he died around 6:30am on Saturday.

Dr Azizul Haque Azad, Chief of RMCH Coronavirus Detection and Treatment Team, on Sunday said in a briefing that Monir had been suffering from fever and rash. Though he died of viral diseases, but found of coronavirus negative in test.

He further said all the five patients including a nurse admitted to ID Hospital tested negative for coronavirus. They all have recovered. Besides, three women and a male patients have been kept under observation. They are also well and sound.
