Some incorrect information has been found in the ‘Street Memory Stamp’ erected in memory of martyr Abu Sayeed in front of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR).
After the matter spread on social media, his comrades and university students covered it with red cloth on Friday (July 18) afternoon.
According to university administration sources, on July 16 was the first martyrdom anniversary of martyr Abu Sayeed.
The ‘Street Memory Stamp’ was implemented by the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.
Abu Sayeed was martyred in police firing in front of this gate on July 16 last year.
According to sources, Abu Sayeed was born on December 10, 2000. But it says January 1, 2001.
Arman Hossain, a coordinator of the university, said, “Abu Sayeed’s death and other information is clear. So there is no room for error in this. We do not want his history to be distorted or written in any way.”
University Registrar Md. Harun-or Rashid said, “The street memory stamp was sent from the Ministry of Culture. It was covered up before the inauguration. They could not see it. The students did not accept it due to incorrect information. It has been covered up again. They are trying to correct the mistake.”
