Abul Khair Abdullah becomes BCC mayor

The ruling party Awai League candiate Abul Khair Abdullah (Khokon Serniabat) has won the mayoral elections in the Barishal City Corporation (BCC) with a landslide victory.

The results of all 126 polling centers were released around 9:00 pm on Monday (June 12). As of the results achieved, Abul Khair Abdullah got 87,808 votes with boat symbol while his nearest rival of Islami Andolon Bangladesh Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Kari obtained 33,828 votes.

Barishal City Corporation (BCC) Returning Officer (RO) Humayun Kabir confirmed the matter.

Earlier, the voting began at 8:00 am and continued till 4:00 pm with EVMs without any break.

In Barishal City Corporation, the number of voters is 274,995. Of them, 138,071 are female and 136,924 are male voters.
