BCL leader held in Sylhet

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: Police have arrested a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of ruling Awami League, in connection with several cases.

Hiron Mahmud Nipu, former acting president of BCL`s Sylhet district unit, was held from Baluchar area in city on Sunday night.

Confirming the matter, Mohammad Rahmat Ullah, additional deputy commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, said Nipu faces several warrants in various cases.

The BCL leader allegedly led an attack on a rally of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BaSad) in city`s court point area on September 15, 2013.
