Students’ cry for exams at IU

The students of different departments of Islamic University (IU) staged a demonstration demanding the resumption of the ongoing postponed and upcoming bachelors’ and masters’ examinations on the campus in Kushtia on Saturday (February 27).

Around one hundred students of different departments started the demonstration forming a human chain in front of Mrittunjoyee Mujib mural on the campus around 11am.

Later, the students formed a protest rally from there. The rally ended in front of the university’s administration building after parading through the main roads of the campus. They, at one stage, observed a sit-in program there to press home their demand.

Taking a position in front of the administration building, the protesters shouted various slogans including 'everything is going well, what is the fear of taking the exam.

Fahim Morshed Himu, a final year student of public administration department, said, "We are in a terrible situation due to the sudden closure of the ongoing examinations of the university."

They would go for a tougher movement if their demand of taking examinations was not met, he added.

The agitating students, however, submitted a written memorandum to the university assistant proctor M Shahed Ahmed demanding the resumption of the examinations.

The university authorities suspended the ongoing and upcoming examinations of all departments of the university on February 22 after the announcement of the ministry of education.
