IU student torture: BCL expels 5 leaders 

Bangladesh Chhatra League has expelled its five female leaders who were found involved in the torture and humiliation of a first-year student of Islamic University, Kushtia.

BCL general secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan confirmed the matter on Wednesday (March 1).

The five students are - Islamic University, Kushtia unit Chhatra League vice president Sanjida Chowdhury Antora, activists Tabassum Islam, Israt Zahan Mim, Halima Khatun Urmi and Muabia Zahan.

Following the issue, IU BCL unit general secretary Nasim Ahmed Joy said this is the decision of the Bangladesh Chhatra League Central Executive parliament. There is no place for criminals in the BCL. The decision was taken based on our probe report.

Earlier, the high court ordered authorities of Islamic University, Kushtia to immediately suspend the five students involved in the torture of student Phulpori Khatun.
