Jahangir Alam new chairman of DU`s Japanese Studies

Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Department of Japanese Studies at University of Dhaka.
He Alam officially took over his new position on Tuesday (July 11), said a notification.
Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam is an associate professor at the Department of Japanese Studies. With a solid academic background, he obtained his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Political Science from the University of Dhaka. In pursuit of further academic excellence, he pursued a Ph.D. in Regional Cooperation Policy Studies from the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies (GSICS), Kobe University, Japan, as a MEXT-Japanese Government Scholar.
Dr. Alam has received numerous awards for his outstanding research contributions to international education development. His research interests span a broad spectrum of development discourses, focusing on Bangladesh-Japan Relations, Human Capital Development, Skills for Employability, and the Political Economy of Education.
Dr. Alam’s valuable experiences include collaborative work with esteemed international organizations such as the International Labor Organization (ILO), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the Japan Foundation (JF). His expertise and dedication have earned him international recognition and respect in his field.
Dr. Alam has significantly contributed to the scholarly community. His notable works include the book ‘Bangladesh-Japan Diplomatic Relations 1972-2022: A New Paradigm of Strategic Partnership.’ Additionally, he has authored numerous book chapters and journal articles focusing on Bangladesh-Japan Relations, which have further enriched the body of knowledge in Japanese Studies.
