60 garment factories shut in Ashulia, 12 cases filed

Due to ongoing protests by garment workers, despite recent wage increases announced by the government, authorities have kept 60 garment factories closed in Ashulia of Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka on Sunday (November 12).

The number of closed garment factories was 130 yesterday.

Meanwhile, 12 cases have been filed with Ashulia police station so far in connection with the incidents of garment workers’ protests and violences that took place several days back.

Mohammad Sarwar Alam, superintendent of Ashulia Industrial Police-1, confirmed the development this morning.
