Three workers killed as lorry hits them in Mirsharai

Three workers were killed when a lorry hit them on Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Mirsharai upazila in Chattogram district on Saturday (November 25) morning.
The accident took place at around 7.30am in Wireless BSCIC area of the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Alamgir Hossain, 45, Shafiqul Islam, 42, and Masud Mia, 35. They all were the workers of Karnaphuli gas line.
According to police and eyewitnesses, a Chattogram-bound speeding lorry rammed the trio when they along with others were going to their workplace on foot beside the highway, leaving two dead on the spot and another critically injured.
The injured was taken to Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex where duty doctor declared him dead.
Sohel Sarker, In-charge of Jorarganj Highway Police Station, said being informed, police recovered the bodies and seized the lorry from the spot.
However, the vehicle’s driver managed to flee the scene.
