EC will consider reschedule if any party applies: Ahsan Habib

The Election Commission (EC) will consider reschedule of the upcoming national election if any party applies.
Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd) Md Ahsan Habib Khan came up with the remark at a views-exchange meeting marking the upcoming 12th national parliamentary election at the conference room of Khulna Deputy Commissioner on Monday (November 27) afternoon.
“If any party applies for pushing back the schedule, EC will sincerely try to consider it”, he said.
“We never said about delaying the schedule. It is our desire that all parties will participate. We have an obligation to hold the election by January 28. We must consider within our time frame”, he said.
He said that there is no pressure on the Election Commission from Western countries, it is a political crisis.
Khulna Divisional Commissioner, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Dig of Khulna Range Police, Regional Election Officer, Returning Officers of Jessore, Satkhira, Narail, Bagerhat and Khulna districts, assistant returning officers, district election officers, intelligence agency officials and election-related officials were present at the meeting.
