Miscreants posing as passengers set bus ablaze in Gazipur

Miscreants in the guise of passengers set a bus on fire on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Jirani area of Gazipur during the hartal enforced by BNP.

The incident took place around 9:30 am on Thursday (November 30).

According to fire service and locals, 10-15 miscreants posing as passengers set a bus of Itihas Paribahan on fire on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Jirani area around 9:30 am and fled the scene. As a result, inner portion of the bus was completely burnt in the fire.

Later locals informed Ashulia fire service about the incident.

Being informed, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.

Kashimpur Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Syed Rafiul Karim said, “No one was seen setting fire to the bus from outside. Primarily, it is suspected that miscreants in the guise of passengers set the bus on fire and fled the scene.”

Action will be taken against those involved in the incident after investigating the incident, he added.
