Salauddin`s nomination cancelled, Ibrahim declared valid
The nomination paper of Awami League candidate in Cox's Bazar-1 (Chakaria-Pekua) seat Salauddin Ahmed has been cancelled for loan default.
However, Kalyan Party chairman Maj Gen (retd) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim's nomination paper was declared valid.
Deputy Commissioner of Cox's Bazar Muhammad Shaheen Imran confirmed the matter on Sunday (December 3).
It was known that Salahuddin Ahmed and other directors took a loan of around Tk50 lakh from Janata Bank’s Laldighi branch against a business farm 'Fish Preservers'. Later, the loan was defaulted. According to Credit Information Report (CIB) of Bangladesh Bank, Salahuddin Ahmed was a defaulter.
Following the issue, the Awami League candidate Salauddin Ahmed said an appeal will be made with the election commission (EC) in this regard.
