30 Rohingyas held while fleeing camp

Police have detained 30 Rohingya refugees from Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya for attempting to escape refugee camps.

Shamim Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ukhiya police station, said Rohingyas have spread out in different areas of the district avoiding the eyes of the security personnel of the camp. Police have started strict surveillance to prevent the Rohingyas from leaving the camp.

He also said 30 Rohingyas were detained from passenger vehicles at a checkpoint established on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf regional on Wednesday evening.

Legal action will be taken in this regard, the OC added.
