Ship movement from St Martin’s island resumes

After one day of closure due to inclement weather on Teknaf-St Martin sea route, the operation of tourist ships was resumed plying on Thursday (December 7).

Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Adnan Chowdhury confirmed the development to risingbd at 12 pm.

He said the ban on the movement of all kinds of vessels including tourist ships on the route was lifted today.

Stranded tourists could return to the mainland, he added.

Earlier, the decision to ban the movement of all kinds of vessels including tourist ships on the route was taken due to issuance of local cautionary signal no 3 in the Bay of Bengal on Wednesday.

Around 300 tourists were stranded on the island due to the bad weather conditions.
