“No foreign pressure on EC regarding national polls”

Election Commissioner Md Alamgir said that the foreigners never put pressure on us. They have no right to do that. Because we are an independent sovereign country. The Election Commission is also an independent institution of the country.

The Election Commissioner said this while replying to reporters after a view exchange meeting in Tangail on Thursday morning (November 7).

He said they (foreigners) want to know about our election preparations, laws and who will be in charge of elections, how to perform the duties, what amendments we have made in the laws and laws. Perhaps through these, they try to understand whether it will be possible to make fair elections. They never give us any suggestions. Rather, the Election Commission is pressuring everyone.

Following the BNP's participation in the polls, he said that legally there is no chance at the moment. However, if anyone wants to participate now, we will need to check that.

Regarding the army deployment issue in the upcoming election, the election commissioner said no decision has been taken yet.
