One killed as pickup hits auto-rickshaw in Noakhali

A pickup hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Noakhali Sadar Upazila on Sunday (December 10), leaving a man dead and three others injured.

The accident took place at Charuria area of the upazila in the morning.

The deceased was identified as Fakhrul Islam, 55, son of Alam Mia. He was a resident of Laxmipur’s Ramgati upazila.

Locals said a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw was going to Sonapur Bazar from Ramgati in the morning. On the way, a pickup coming from the opposite direction hit the auto-rickshaw in that area, leaving four people injured.

Local people rescued the injured and took to Noakhali General Hospital where duty doctor declared Fakhrul dead.

Sudharam Model Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mir Jahedul Haque Rony confirmed the news.

Legal step will be taken in this regard, he said.
