Two bogies of an express train going from Pabna to Chapainawabganj were derailed in Ranigram village of Pabna district on Monday (December 11).
No casualties were reported after the incident. However, rail communication in the route is halted now.
Dhalarchar Express train director Hafizul Islam said eight wheels of two compartments of the train derailed in the area around 7:20am.
Sources said that there were not sufficient clips in the rail lines. It was a local rail line. The train runs in the route only. If the accident took place in Ishwardi Bypass station then, the rail communication with Dhaka would come to a halt. But, now the Pabna-Iswardi rail communication is halted only due to the derailment.
Pakshi West Divisional Engineer-2 Birbal Mandal said a relief train is heading towards the area. A four-member probe committee has been formed in this regard.
