Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said, “A balance will have to create within the centres in order to make the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections free and fair. Candidates must ensure the presence of polling agents at the centre. The presiding and returning officer should be informed immediately if the polling agents are expelled from the centre. It will not be accepted if any complaint is made about the agent after the end of voting.”
The CEC made the remarks at a press briefing after exchanging views with the administration and law enforcement officials of the six districts of Greater Mymensingh at the Advocate Tarek Smriti Auditorium of Mymensingh Town Hall at around 3 pm on Sunday (December 24) afternoon.
Kazi Habibul Awal said, “We have taken preparations in order to hold a free, fair and neutral election. There will be adequate number of law enforcement personnel to control the situation outside the centre. We have transferred many officials in a bid to make elections free. We are still receiving complaints against many for violating the electoral code of conduct and actions are being taken after investigating them.”
